Ezra Moth is an interdisciplinary artist based in NYC. Their work lives at the intersection of ecology and queer liberation. Using synthetic biology, sculpture, and collaborating with organisms like algae, plants, fungi and bacteria.  Hypothetical agriculture interventions and performance artworks become methods of storytelling, reinforced by laboratory research. Moth holds an MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BS in biology and sustainable agriculture. Part mad scientist, part community farmer, and part drag persona, their art practice ricochets from sublime hopefulness to post-apocalyptic despair, presenting radical alternatives to the climate catastrophe while centering nonbinary and nonhuman perspectives.
The artwork grows and changes. It dies. It evaporates. Most importantly, it attempts to change the lived realities of their community. Utilizing synthetic biology and gardening as methods to provide, offer mutual aid, and build a safer future for queer and trans individuals.
